How to Set Up IPTV on Windows or Mac
Watching IPTV on a computer is easy with the right player. Here are the best options for Windows and Mac — and how to get your channels running in a few minutes.
A laptop or desktop is often the most convenient screen for IPTV when you're working from home or want a second viewing option. Setup on Windows or Mac takes five minutes with the right player.

IPTV Smarters has a Windows desktop application that mirrors the mobile experience. Download it from the IPTV Smarters website, install it, then:
- Open the app and click Add New User → Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Enter your server URL, username, and password.
- Click Add User. Your channels load automatically.
This gives you a full channel list, TV guide, and VOD library — everything your phone or TV setup has, on your computer.
Option 2: VLC (Windows and Mac)
VLC is a free, universal media player that handles M3U playlists natively. It's a good option if you just want to test a channel quickly or watch occasionally without installing a dedicated app.
- Open VLC and go to Media → Open Network Stream (Windows) or File → Open Network (Mac).
- Paste your M3U URL and click Play.
- Your channel list appears in the playlist panel.
VLC doesn't have a built-in TV guide, so for regular use a dedicated IPTV player is more comfortable. But for a quick test it's perfect.
Option 3: Kodi with PVR IPTV Simple Client
Kodi is a free media centre application that runs on both Windows and Mac. Add the PVR IPTV Simple Client plugin, point it at your M3U URL, and Kodi builds a full TV guide interface. It's more setup than IPTV Smarters but very flexible if you already use Kodi.
